Stay connected at sea with Videoworks cutting-edge on board systems

But as this issue of Yachting went to press, all of the pandemic’s problems seemed poised to turn around. Normalcy may not fully resume during the boating season this summer and early fall, but NYC mayor Bill de Blasio says there is reason to expect and hope that change for the better is coming including the “Great White Way” resuming activity by September, even if he has to “move heaven and earth to bring Broadway back.”

It’s a truly odd thing to think about New York City with visitors to iconic places such as the Guggenheim Museum being down 70 percent.

New York City

In January 2020, Broadway ticket sales generated more than $150 million. In January 2021, that figure was zero. In fact, heading into the boating season, there were lots of signals that boaters tying up in the city would have things to see and do. Yankee Stadium, which was a COVID-19 vaccination site during the spring, was reopening with limited capacity for fans who want to see a game in person.

If you tie up at Chelsea Piers, you’ll be on the West Side of Manhattan near the Whitney Museum of American Art, whose Julie Mehretu and Madeline Hollander exhibitions run through August. A Jasper Johns exhibition opens in September. You’ll also be near the Museum of Illusions, which is set up for kids and adults alike to explore holograms, games, puzzles and more.Next

Instagram is all about a beautiful life. Its aspirational devotees are attracted to the perfection they see in the flawlessly framed and filtered photos and videos. For most Instagram users, the carefully curated glimpses of their lives merely feed an illusion of perfection; the reality doesn’t measure up. Serena Spinucci, however, is the real deal. Owner of 30.8 metre Moonen Passepartout, a fitness enthusiast and a globetrotter, the stylish Italian has a lifestyle that is utterly Instagrammable.

Initial contact for Starlink Maritime was difficult as there was no direct phone or email engagement options, just ordering. Also, a referred direct Starlink contact did help; however, they were very busy. Fortunately, we had an alternate engagement with Starlink via a prior land-based test system order and were able to leverage that to help with Starlink Maritime. They’ve been very responsive since this early interaction, though.

The boat is currently in STP Palma on the hard for her annual yard period – new anti-fouling, anodes, servicing, inspections etc. She will be ready to go by mid-November and will be in St Martin before Christmas as we have some charters booked. We will jump on board later with some friends to join the Owners’ Club Between the Bays event in Anguilla and St Martin from 9 to 12 March.

Taking place in the Caribbean islands of Anguilla and Saint Martin, the inaugural Between the Bays event will see superyacht owners come together to enjoy two of Belmond’s finest properties – Cap Juluca and La Samanna. The four-day programme, which is supported by event sponsors Feadship and Anguilla Tourism, will include an adventure day exploring Anguilla, a cruise in company between the two islands and a closing party on La Samanna’s beach.

Every year, the finest sailing talents from across the world make the pilgrimage to the port of Gustavia for three days of exhilarating racing. The origins of the race date back to 1986 when a lack of trophy resulted in a bucket being presented to the victors. Nowadays, racing is a far more competitive affair, but the event still maintains its relaxed vibe, and onshore parties are an equally key component of the event.
